The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office says a Whitney Point woman is one of three people who died in a structure fire that occurred in the Town of Dryden on Wednesday.

On Wednesday at 8:37 p.m. a 911 call was made to Presque Isle County Central Dispatch indicating that his neighbors house was on fire which is located in Metz Township. The Posen Fire Department responded with three trucks and 12 firefighters and were assisted with mutual aid from Rogers City,

The city sued the owner over $300,000 in penalties as tenants described dangerous, overcrowded conditions before the blaze.

Over a dozen neighbors stood in silent vigil this afternoon watching as members of the Stanislaus County Sheriff Coroner's Office removed the body of a young child from the remains of a house fire in the 1200 block of Expedition Avenue.
