In the main event, UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski faced off against Brazil's Diego Lopes in a highly anticipated rematch. For Volkanovski, this was not only a chance to defend his title but also to do so in his home city of Sydney for the first time in his career.

With Lopes taken care of, Volkanovski has a pair of looming undefeated challengers in Movsar Evloev (19-0) and Lerone Murphy (17-0-1). Many believed both of those guys were more deserving of UFC 325's title shot rather than Lopes getting a rematch in such quick succession.

The UFC 325 main event took place at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, where Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes met for the second time with the featherweight title on the line. Volkanovski entered the fight in his second run as champion and aimed to add another defense to his record.
