A house and a duplex in Unity Township were damaged by separate fires early on New Year’s Eve; no injuries reported.

Feb. 16—UNITY — A fire Saturday that destroyed the Unity Flower Shop and family home at 257 Depot St. was apparently caused by a cat playing with cardboard atop a gas stove, a fire official said.
