When aluminum scraps start building up below my brake, I bend all the skinny strips into siding starters. Where I live, it’s against code to use vinyl starters unless it’s above flashing. We are allowed to use this metal Z-flashing as a vinyl siding starter since the siding has built in drain holes. They are diagramed in our province’s siding association’s best practice procedures.
