Phyllis Webstad's personal story was the impetus behind #OrangeShirtDay. In a 2019 interview with MTS, she said honouring residential school survivors is "a little bit of justice in our lifetime for what happened to us. We'll never be fully healed, but it helps us to feel better about being in this world."
