This evening, the HRBT Expansion Project will reach another major milestone with the opening of the new North Trestle. Motorists traveling from Hampton to Norfolk will be diverted onto the newly constructed eastbound trestle at the Hampton shoreline and feed back into the existing eastbound tunnel. Motorists are encouraged to adhere to posted speed limits, drive distraction-free and remain attentive to digital message signs along the corridor. For additional details about this shift, visit HRBTe

While I-95 & most major roads are clear in the Fredericksburg District, crews made progress this afternoon to make more secondary roads & subdivision streets passable. Passable means driveable with extreme caution, maybe snow-packed, not bare pavement or plowed curb-to-curb. | Virginia Department of Transportation

Reminder to all westbound motorists at the HRBT! There’s a new traffic pattern leading into the westbound tunnel. Crews need to start deconstructing the existing westbound trestle and finish the new superstructure, so motorists traveling westbound from Norfolk to the tunnel will be directed onto a new temporary bridge, to the right, just before entering the tunnel. VDOT reminds all drivers to keep their eyes on the road, pay close attention to posted signage, and maintain the posted speed inside

Avoid travel in the Fredericksburg area, Northern Neck, and Middle Peninsula until temperatures rise later Tuesday morning. Icy road conditions may be present. Wet pavement from Monday's storm could refreeze, creating hazardous conditions for travel. Read the release for more detail on road conditions by region, and what residents can expect on plowing in residential areas and low-volume secondary roads: [https://bit.ly/420oy2r](https://t.co/vNJcWZyHcL) | Virginia Department of Transportation

To reach as many roads as soon as possible, we cannot avoid plows pushing snow against the end of driveways. Make snow shoveling easier & clear a 10-foot area to the right of your driveway (as you face the road) so plows won’t push snow back across your driveway apron. | Virginia Department of Transportation

This is how some roads look today after excessive rainfall on Tuesday across Virginia 🌊 For your safety and the safety of first responders, do not move or go around a "Road Closed" sign or barricade and never attempt to cross a flooded road — it only takes a few inches of rushing water to sweep away a person or a vehicle. 💻 View road conditions at 511.VDOT.Virginia.gov 💻 Report a flooded road to my.VDOT.Virginia.gov 📽️ Greene County, Rt 637 at Rt 621 north of Stanardsville | Virginia Departm

When Hurricane Helene struck, Whitetop Laurel Creek surged through Jefferson National Forest, sweeping away homes, washing out miles of the Virginia Creeper Trail and demolishing the mountain corridor of Route 58.
