🏀On May 8, 1970 the New York Knicks won their first NBA title by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 113-99 in Game 7 of the Finals at Madison Square Garden. New York was led by the inspirational play of injured center Willis Reed, who limped onto the court and scored the game’s first two baskets, and guard Walt ''Clyde'' Frazier, who led the Knicks with 36 points, 19 assists and 7 rebounds.
